Should you have a photo booth at your wedding?

Should you have a photo booth at your wedding? Edinburgh & Glasgow wedding photographer and videographer

To have a photo booth or not to have? This is a question that most couples planning their big day ask. In this blog post, we are going to explore the reasons why having a photo booth at your wedding can make your wedding day extra special, not only for you as the couple but also for your guests as well! So let's begin...

  1. It's a great entertainment

Making a wedding day fun and entertaining is without a doubt something most couples think about. All weddings have downtime and you as the couple have to think of a way to keep your guests engaged and entertained during those times so your wedding can be one to remember! In a wedding, the formal photos are normally taken right after the ceremony - this includes the family & friends photos as well as couple shots. During this time, guests can sometimes get a little impatient whilst waiting for cocktail hour to end and the reception to start so having a photo booth around this time is a great way to keep everyone entertained. As they say, time flies when you are having fun and before they even know it, it will be reception time and your photographer would have taken all the family and couple photos whilst your guests would have taken lots of crazy, yet fun photos with the photo booth. Pro tip: I would recommend hiring a photo booth that can do both photos and videos to make it extra special, for example a 360 spinning photo booth that also does videos! These types of photo booths are both fun for the bystander and the user.

  2. Lots of memories to cherish forever

Photographs without a doubt are the memories that we keep and cherish for many years to come. Since there will be lots of little moments happening during your wedding day, your photographer and videographer can't be everywhere at all times simply because everything will be happening simultaneously. Having a photo booth means whilst your wedding photographer is focused on you as the couple and your wedding party, your guests will be both entertained and making memories through the photo booth. Some photo booths also have the ability to print out multiple copies of the photos which ensures that guests also get a copy of their own photo as well as you as the bride and groom. Some photo booth companies may even have the option of a guestbook from the photos taken which makes a great keepsake for you. Once your big-day is over, all you'll have left are photographs and videos to remind you how much fun your guests had at your wedding.

  3. Your guests won't get bored

No matter whether you're having a small or large wedding, there's always something that is needed to break the ice and entertain everyone; especially during cocktail hours or the gap between the ceremony and the reception. Photo booths are a great way to have your guests gather around, talk, interact and laugh together!

  4. Suitable for all ages

If you have invited any children to your wedding, you're probably already thinking of a way to entertain them! A photo booth works like magic! Having lots of children-friendly props for the photo booth will certainly keep all the kids (even the adults and seniors) entertained.

On the other hand, we all know that there are two types of people in a wedding: those who will probably be on the dancer-floor from the start and those who may not even step on the dance floor so having a photo booth is definitely a good way to keep your non-dancing guests entertained.
