Glenapp Castle is one of our favourite Scottish castles for destination weddings and we love going back there. The tones, the grandeur and the luxury decor suits our work perfectly.

Now, today’s wedding feature is the magical day of Cheryl and Anthony who opted in for an intimate destination wedding at the wonderful Glenapp Castle. Cheryl and Anthony travelled from the States to tie the knot here in Scotland. When we asked them what their vision of the big day was, Cheryl said “my vision was exactly how it turned out to be. Our friends and family having a wonderful time - having a wedding at a castle, the men wearing kilts and the ladies formal gowns, a ceremony filled with traditions and laughs, our first dance - we nailed it! - dinner by candlelight in the glasshouse and fireworks to end the most perfect evening!”

Were there any family or cultural traditions you did for your wedding day?

Hand fasting, drinking from the quake, saying our vows while holding our oath stone which everyone signed before the wedding. Having an owl fly in our rings, having the groom, man of honor and best man wear a kilt.

What was your favourite moment of the day?

It's truly impossible to decide. The entire day was simply incredible. Our first dance, our ceremony, fireworks, the after party, seeing our friends and family gathered together. It was all perfect.

Do you have any advice for couples planning their day?

Take your time, you'll change your mind 10x over.

How did you go about finding & hiring your venue/?

I wanted a destination wedding - I knew I wanted it in Scotland and I wanted a place where our friends and family could be together not just for a day but for many. I wanted the trip to be an experience.

Looking back, what was the best decision you made when planning your wedding day?

Planning events for everyone to enjoy for days. Falconry, archery, pre wedding dinners and road trips, post wedding brunch and the Sea Safari.

Where did you go/are you going for your honeymoon? Would you recommend it to others?

We did a 7 day guided and chauffeured tour through Scotland. It was incredible. I would highly recommend it.
