The Best of the Scottish Highlands: Glencoe vs Isle of Skye

When it comes to elopements in Scotland, there are two locations that stand out the most and remain the most popular to this day. These are the Isle of Skye and Glencoe. Both of these locations are known for their dramatic scenery, cliffs, immense waterfalls, quiet lochs and towering mountains but one thing that separate the two from one another is their accessibility, especially if you are inviting your family and friends to your elopement. Whilst Isle of Skye can be accessible, it takes just under 5hrs of driving from Glasgow to Portree and around 5hrs from Edinburgh to Portree. However, Glencoe is within 2hrs driving distance of Glasgow and 2.5hrs from Edinburgh, with a similar scenery, making Glencoe the top spot for elopements and intimate weddings in Scotland.

When is the best time of the year to elope to Glencoe?

The answer depends on the mood and vibe you are going for. Glencoe is known for its foggy and moody look but can also be bright and sunny. Generally, the most popular season for Glencoe elopements tend to be between April and October because of the warmer weather and longer day-light. However, Winter elopements are becoming more and more popular. Snow-covered mountains, low-angled sunlight and majestic red deers are all highlights of winter elopements that can make up for an intimate and unique experience for you and your loved ones.

Why Glencoe is the best elopement location with family?

If you are planning your elopement with family and friends, we would highly recommend choosing a location in Glencoe.
